Recently we carried out roof repairs and lead replacement works to a beautiful old church in the middle of the woods in Berkshire. The roof had obviously been replaced some time in the past, but what amazed me were the original rafters to the main roof.
Unfortunately its "THAT TIME OF YEAR” With Christmas holidays providing both a need and an opportunity, to get a few bob over the holiday period, thieves turned to stealing lead from a local school.Approximately 160 lm of lead flashing was ripped from walls, causing further damage to brickwork and parapet walls.Tilehurst Roofing Contractors were called to help. The works were completed in just 2 days, leaving the school watertight for the Christmas break. The worrying thing is that the new simulated flashing materials needed to be ordered from a northern company as all local suppliers had sold out of the product. Not a good sign !!!
The continuous thefts of lead has struck again in our local area. This time at a village church, a church in Coley, and a modern church house.
